Top 6 Sober Spots in Las Vegas

I recently went on a weekend trip to Vegas. It was my first “official” Vegas vacation because the last time I was there I had the flu and couldn’t leave the hotel room. I’m also not counting the times I visited as a kid to compete in swim meets because the only Vegas attraction I visited back then was the M&M World (good times).

I wouldn’t call myself your typical Vegas tourist; I’m not a heavy drinker and I don’t relish the idea of losing money gambling, so a lot of the usual Vegas activities don’t really appeal to me.

This post is written for people like me who don’t plan to drink much in Vegas but still want to have fun. And if you’re going to Vegas with a group of friends, some of the spots on this list are brunch places that your hungover friends will enjoy as well!

So without further ado, here are my top six sober spots Las Vegas!

Brunch

Makers and Finders

Make sure you get here early because there’s usually a waitlist. The food options at Makers and Finders aren’t bad, but I really appreciated their coffee and tea menu. I recommend the Cafe Con Leche for a sweet way to start your day.

Lunch

Tacos Huevos

If you’re the kind of person who thinks everything can be improved by adding an egg on top, Tacos Huevos is for you. They offer all your traditional Mexican fare from tacos to nachos to burritos, and you have the option to top every menu item off with a fried egg. Be warned: portions are pretty big, so if you want to try multiple items you’ll probably want to bring a few friends.

Dinner

Black Tap

Black Tap serves up mouthwatering burgers late into the night. Located in the Venetian, it has a glitzy atmosphere that is perfect for a night out. Their wagyu beef burgers are fantastic and if you have a sweet tooth, Black Tap is known for their enormous Crazy Shakes. They’re over-the-top, decadent creations that will put any normal milkshake to shame.

Coffee

Vesta Coffee Roasters

Vesta Coffee Roasters is a chic haven away from all the craziness of Las Vegas. Located in the Arts District, the coffee shop has classy decor and bright lights that make it the perfect place to spend an hour or two. They offer a variety of food options including pastries, sandwiches, and some sweet or savory toasts. I suggest trying their specialty drinks; the hazelnut-maple latte is my personal favourite.

Novelty

Bad Owl Coffee

Harry Potter fans rejoice! Bad Owl Coffee is a Harry Potter-themed coffee shop located in Henderson, which is about a 20 minute drive from Las Vegas. The drive is so worth it though because this coffee shop actually has a Butter Brew Latte! If you want it to more closely resemble the famous Butter Beer, you can order it without espresso. It’s a rich, creamy dessert/drink that both children and adults will love. Their Biscoff Cookie Latte is another unique drink option worth trying.

Explore

Arts District

People always talk about the Las Vegas Strip, but the Arts District deserves some attention too! If you need to get away from the crowds, spend a day exploring the Arts District. It is home to a whole bunch of quirky thrift shops and has lots of mural art to photograph. There’s a fun (and enormous) thrift and antique store right next to Makers and Finders. I thought I’d just pop in for a quick look, but it ended up taking me ages to browse through everything.

So there you have it! Those are my top six sober spots in Las Vegas. Of course, even if you don’t plan to drink, plenty of places on the strip are still worth seeing. The Venetian is beautiful, the fountain show at the Bellagio is spectacular, and there are so many great restaurants that you could eat out everyday for a month and still have more to try.
